Samuel de Champlain

Samuel de Champlain was a French explorer and map maker who travelled to North America and founded Quebec City by the St. Lawrence River. He established Quebec City as a fur trading center with many Aboriginals. He spent the six months of winter in Quebec City and helped the Wendat and the Algonquin with their battles against the Iroquois.
